2005-07-19 Edalat Square, Mashad, Iran

After 14 months of horrible cruelties, the two Iranian teen age boys Mahmoud Asgari & Ayaz Marhoni finally were tortured to death in a public proceeding - all in the name of Allah.
Two out of about 4,000 gays and lesbians, who were "executed" since the Islamic Revolution of 1979 in Iran.

Their crime? - They had been denounced to be homosexual.
Later on, the accusal has been adjusted to homosexual rape and consume of alcohol, just to calm down the international protests.

The evidence? - Their own confession, ...after 228 lashes!!
A strong adult man can hold out about 20 lashes, before he loses consciousness.

When they committed the "crime", they were 14 & 16 yrs. old.
The age of criminal responsibility in Iran is 15 years for boys and 9 years for girls, so they had to wait  to be sentenced to death for about 14 months in prison, to meet the requirements of Islamic law (Sharia).

Just a few hours before their execution, broken and drowned in tears, they reported in a final interview that there wasn't a single day without mistreatment in prison, for over 14 months!.

Nevertheless, in Iran even gays have rights. So they had a free choice between four ways of execution:
  • being "hanged" (what actually means being strangledwithout breaking the neck!),
  • being stoned (until death),
  • being halved(!!) by a sword, or
  • being dropped from the highest perch (repeatedly until death, if necessary).
They decided for the "hanging".

What if you had to decide the way of being killed? I bet, you would have chosen the "good old" hanging, too. Am I right? But listen, my friend, first let me tell you how the story ends!

Hundreds came to the public show. Those who couldn't watch the murder "live" and "uncut" at Edalat Square, had a chance to see it on TV, although without the killing procedure itself.

Mahmoud and Ayaz were led to the gallows, still blindfolded. Probably their hearts were cramped like a stone, while they must have felt a glowing iron tighten around their throats.

Since their throes of death should last as long as possible to inflict a maximum of torment upon the boys, they were hanged by the "short drop" method, which is banned for its extreme cruelty worldwide, at least since the middle of the 19th century (1850/1866), even in those countries that still proceed judicial hangings.

To assure a slow dying, esp. to make sure their necks won't break, they were put on the back of a lorry and got nooses with improper knots around their necks. Then the vehicle drove off slowly, while the ropes tightened around their throats and pulled the boys aside until their feet slided from the platform and their struggling bodies swung back and forth.

To make it even more cruel, they removed their blindfolds right in the moment before the beginning of the strangling, so the boys had to witness each other with their protuberant eyes during the endless minutes of their mortal tortur.

What if it was YOUR son?

What have they done to you, boys!

What have they done!
